“Now is the time to build the country, now is the time to shape the destiny of the nation. Therefore, we have to turn the 40 crores hands of our 20 crores people into the hands of workers and take our country forward,” he said.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing a rehabilitation programme for flood-affected people at Hatazari Government College ground this evening.
Highlighting the prevailing situation of the country, he said some political parties are spreading confusion and trying to obstruct the government’s development activities.
“Today, we have to make a decision. All democratic people of Bangladesh who believe in democracy and freedom of expression have to decide what steps we should take against those who want to create disorder, block roads by coming onto the streets and want to mislead people,” he said.
Calling upon the people to remain united against such attempts, Tarique Rahman said, “Let us take pledge, let us take an oath that we must stand against those who want to jeopardize country’s development and progress, and out to obstruct way of improving the fate of the people.”
“Changing the fate of the people is our vision and mission. We will work, we will build the country, Bangladesh First (Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Sobar Agee Bangladesh),” he said.
“BNP firmly believes that people are the source of all political power. Since the people have lent their support to BNP, it’s our sacred responsibility to to implement the party’s 31 points development goal,” he said.
Terming BNP’s 31-point development goal as the people’s programme, the Prime Minister said, “BNP would take the country forward by overcoming all obstacles to fulfill the aspirations of the people. The party will continue working to change the fate of the people and transform the country as developed one.”
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion, reports BSS.
