Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday said the people of Bangladesh cannot be held back by fear or intimidation, asserting that such tactics will not succeed in suppressing public will.

“It will not be possible to restrain the people of this country through scare tactics. The people cannot be subdued,” he said while addressing a public rally at the Eidgah ground in Jashore.

Warning against any attempt to disrupt public order, the prime minister said the government would remain vigilant to ensure peace and stability across the country. He stressed that no group would be allowed to create disorder or push the nation back into prolonged unrest.

“We must stay alert so that no one can create chaos again. We will not allow a return to a situation where repeated hartals disrupt normal life and harm the economy,” he said.

During his speech, Rahman highlighted what he described as the sacrifices, repression and legal challenges faced by leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party during past political movements.

He said the government is committed to implementing its election promises and expressed confidence that these efforts would help bring meaningful change to the country.

“The ultimate source of our strength is the people of Bangladesh,” he said, adding that the party aims to carry forward the unfinished work of Ziaur Rahman for the welfare and progress of the nation.

The rally was attended by party leaders, activists and supporters from Jashore and nearby areas.
