Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Wednesday called on citizens nationwide to participate in upcoming programs organized by the 11-party alliance, demanding the immediate implementation of the referendum verdict and resolution of the worsening fuel crisis.

Jamaat Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar accused the ruling BNP government of deliberate delays and conspiracies in enforcing the referendum outcome, calling it a betrayal of public trust. He urged the government to convene the Constitution Reform Council to act on the public mandate without delay.

“The national parliamentary election and the referendum to give legal effect to the July Charter were held on February 12. Instead of implementing the verdict, the government is resorting to evasion and conspiracy, deceiving the people,” Parwar said.

He stressed that the 11-party alliance remains committed to enforcing the reforms supported by 70 percent of voters. “The alliance will actively work alongside the people on the streets,” he added.

Parwar also blamed government mismanagement and party-linked syndicates for the severe fuel crisis, saying the administration’s failure to act has caused widespread public suffering.

The alliance has outlined a series of programs this week. A nationwide public outreach and leaflet campaign will run from April 9. Protest rallies are scheduled for April 11 in all major cities, followed by district-level demonstrations on April 12. A national seminar will be held on April 13 at the Diploma Engineers Institution’s Muktijoddha Hall in Dhaka.

Parwar urged party workers and citizens across the country to take part actively, pressing the government on citizens’ rights, constitutional reform, and relief from the fuel crisis affecting daily life.
