Ten AL activists arrested in Jamalpur

Police arrested ten leaders and activists of the Awami League (activities banned) in a day-long drive in the district on Sunday in connection with various criminal cases.


The arrested persons are Md Parvez Ali, 37, Md Ajahar Ali, 45, and Md Fazlul Haque, 52, of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila; Asad, 30, and Md Ariful Islam Jeweel, 30, of Melandah Upazila; Md Rafiqul Islam, 45, of Sarishabari Upazila; Md Majnu Miah, 53, of Islampur Upazila; and Md Shamsul Alam, 57, Md Maminul Islam Akand, 48, and Md Sher Ali Bipul, 48, of Dewanganj Upazila under the district.

Police Control Room Inspector Md Golam Sarwar said the arrested persons were accused in multiple criminal cases and were involved in hatching conspiracies to destabilize the present government following the fall of the previous Awami League regime.

Police said such operations would continue in the future, reports BSS.
