26 Awami League men arrested in capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 26 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations from different areas of the capital.


Niaz Mehedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP, said in a press release today that the AL men were arrested in separate drives on Monday.

According to the press release, the two were arrested from Ramna, while ten were in Dhanmondi, one in Bangshal, two in Khilkhet, one in Kadamtali, eight in Mohammadpur, one in Mirpur and one in the Turag area.

Police said the operations would continue to maintain public safety and normal law and order in the capital, reports BSS.

Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway, the statement added.
