National athletics training camp kicks off tomorrow

Dhaka, 5 March - The national athletics training camp will begin tomorrow at the Bangladesh Army Stadium ahead of the South Asian Senior Athletics Championship, scheduled to be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India, from May 3 to 5.

The camp will continue till May 1. The Bangladesh Army Sports Regulatory Board will provide all the sports equipment related to the track, gymnasium and training. Accommodation and meals for the athletes and trainers will be arranged at the BOA residential hostel at the Army Stadium.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Athletics Federation's selection committee has selected fourteen athletes, three coaches, and one coordinator for this training camp based on their performances in the recently concluded 48th National Athletics Competition.

Md. Kitab Ali has been appointed as the camp coordinator. Md. Farid Khan Chowdhury, who will also serve as the camp commandant, has been designated as the hurdles and marathon coach. Abdullah Hel-Kafi, Deputy Director of the Physical Education Department at Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST), has been named the sprint coach. Meanwhile, BKSP instructor Faujia Huda Jui has been appointed as the jump instructor and female camp commandant.

The selected athletes are - M Ismail, M Rakibul Hasan, Jubail Islam, Jahir Rayhan, Mahfuzur Rahman, Najumul Hossain Roni, Md Masud Rana (1), Md Masud Rana (2), Tanvir Faisal, Md Al Amin (male), Shirin Akter, Sumiya Dewan, Most. Ritu Akhter and Sonia Akter (female).
 
Camp responsibility:
Md Kitab Ali (coordinator), Forid Khan Chowdhury (hurdles coach and camp commanded), Abdullah Hel-Kafi (sprint coach), and Foujia Huda Jui (jump coach and camp commanded).
