
Dhaka, 15 Aug- The Cumilla leg of the BRAC Bank-Prothom Oporajeyo Alo Women's Hockey special training and development program was formally inaugurated today (Saturday) at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) vice president and selection committee's chairman Sajed AA Adel, State Minister for Youth and Sports' personal secretary Kabir Khan, BHF selection committee's member Mahbub Harun, women's wing vice chairman Bodrul Islam Dipu and its secretary Tariquzzaman Nannu were among others present in the opening ceremony.
Speaking in the closing ceremony, BHF vice-president Sajed A.A. Adel said: "Our main objective is to identify talented women hockey players at the grassroots level and develop them to international standards. We're hopeful that this venue in Cumilla will produce skilled hockey stars for the national team in the future."
It can be mentioned that as part of the nationwide talent-identification initiative to develop women's hockey, special training camps are also being conducted in Cumilla, alongside Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Sylhet, Netrokona, Kushtia and Narayanganj. BSS
