They were taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 10 pm.
The injured are Sadiq, 21, Moin, 22, Ilias, 21, Omar Faruk, 21, Abu Bakkar, 22, Walid, 22, and Enamul, 22.
The injured students did not disclose the cause of the altercation, hospital sources said.
A source at Chawkbazar Police Station said that an organisation named Sammilit Chhatra Parishad organised a Milad mahfil at the madrasa. Tensions arose as one group was not invited and closed a canteen in protest. Although the issue initially appeared resolved, the situation escalated again when one group brought barricade-like objects from the temporary court area and placed them nearby, leading to the clash, reports UNB.
Police and army personnel later arrived to bring the situation under control.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the seven injured students suffered head injuries and are currently receiving treatment in room number four of the emergency department.
