The mobile court has recovered approximately 100 acres of government land from illegal occupation in the Gorhan-Chatbari Ponding area at Mirpur in the capital today.

The land, originally acquired by the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) for flood control infrastructure, had been encroached upon by various unauthorized establishments.

Led by an Executive Magistrate of the Dhaka District Administration, an eviction drive was conducted with the joint participation of the Water Development Board, law enforcement agencies and the Bangladesh Army.

The drive targeted illegal structures and encroachments along the flood control embankment-known as the Mirpur Embankment-from chainage kilometer 8.50 (Panchabati) to kilometer 14.00 (Gorhan-Chatbari 8-vent regulator).

Illegal establishments including Maisha Construction Limited, Karim Readymix, ABC Readymix, Shell, Sadi Filling, Jack Bangladesh, Path Builders, Amin Mohammad Group, Dhaka Boat Club, Turag Recreation Center, and NDE Readymix Plant-2 and shops in Birulia area were evicted, reports BSS.
