Railway Adviser Urges End to Strike Amid Ongoing Talks
Railway Affairs Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has called on railway running staff to end their strike, assuring them that talks with the Finance Division are actively addressing their concerns.
“While their demands are understandable, halting train services and inconveniencing passengers is regrettable,” Khan said in a statement at Kamalapur Railway Station on Tuesday morning.
He emphasized that the Railway Ministry alone cannot resolve the issue, as the matter lies with the Finance Division, where discussions are underway. “We are confident that a resolution will be reached soon,” he added.
The strike, which began at noon on Monday (Jan 27), has disrupted train operations nationwide. On Tuesday morning, Kamalapur Railway Station was notably quiet, with ticket counters empty and no trains departing.
Passengers, many unaware of the strike, found themselves stranded. Families traveling to destinations like Mymensingh, Netrokona, Rajshahi, and Cox’s Bazar were left in the cold, facing long waits and confusion.
“We had no idea the trains wouldn’t run. Now we’re stuck here with no other options,” one frustrated passenger said.
