Illegal fruit jelly and robot ice cream factory raided in Kalapara

Patuakhali: A mobile court conducted a raid on an illegal fruit jelly and robot ice cream factory in Kalapara, Patuakhali. During this, the mobile court sentenced the owner of the establishment, Mokchedul Alam (35), to one year in prison. UNO Kausar Hamid and AC Land Yasin Sadek conducted the raid in West  Badurtoli village of Tiakhali Union of the upazila around 11 pm on Saturday.

About 5,000 peach fruit jelly, robot ice cream and chemicals used to make fake baby food were seized in the raid. The locals expressed relief that the raid was conducted on this illegal factory.

Kalapara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Yasin Sadek said that these baby foods were prepared in the dark of night and supplied to various rural areas. He said that a drive will be conducted against all illegal factories in the upazila. - Gofran Palash
