Dhaka, May 4 — A stuntman named Monir Hossain died after falling sick on the shooting set of Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan-starrer upcoming film ‘Tandob’ in Rajshahi on Saturday.

Director Raihan Rafi confirmed the death, telling the media on Sunday that Monir was declared dead by doctors at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.

“Monir gave his shot around noon and was doing fine afterwards. He was chatting with everyone on the set,” according to Rafi.

“Suddenly, within a couple of hours, he began feeling unwell. When we rushed him to the hospital doctors informed us he had passed away,” Rafi said.

The film is currently being shot at a specially built set inside Rajshahi's Hi-Tech Park where crew members said that Monir suddenly began feeling unwell on Sunday.

Rafi added, “He might have suffered a stroke in the morning but didn’t let anyone know. He didn’t mention feeling sick or uncomfortable to anyone.”

“His sudden death at such a young age is heartbreaking for us. We have sent his body to his family in Dhaka and we will try our best to support them,” Rafi added.

Monir worked closely with assistant fight director and fellow stuntman Nepali, who accompanied him to the hospital after he fell ill.

Speaking to the media, Nepali said, “He was fine since morning—laughing, chatting, and working with everyone, and our shoot wrapped up in the afternoon.”

“Then suddenly he felt dizzy and began vomiting. We took him to the hospital but the doctors said he had suffered a stroke and had died.”

Monir, a resident of Narayanganj, had been working as a stuntman in the Bangladeshi film industry for several years.

‘Tandob’, starring Shakib Khan and small-screen actress Sabila Nur in her silver screen debut, is scheduled for release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The film reportedly also stars Jaya Ahsan. - UNB
