Six people, including a woman, have sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in Dakshinkhan area in the capital.



Six people, including a woman, have sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in Dakshinkhan area in the capital.
The incident took place at Moktar's Khabar Hotel in Kosaibari Bazar on Monday afternoon.
The injured are Maria Akter, 22, Md Nabin, 25, Mamunur Rashid, 27, Md Shanto, 18, Md Mojibur, 51, and Md Moktar, 35.
Dakshinkhan Police Station officer in-charge Mamunur Rahman confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
He said a gas cylinder exploded at the restaurant around 5:30 pm while being installed after the older one had been out of gas, leaving six people burnt.
They were rescued and taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Dr SM Aiyub Hossain, a residential surgeon of the institute, said the injured cannot be called out of danger as 15 to 35 per cent of their bodies were burnt.
