Chief Adviser's special assistant to the ICT ministry Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb has said the government is updating and amending the Post Office Act 1898 to align with modern needs.

Faiz Ahmad confirmed the development today through a post on his verified Facebook page.

He said the law is being amended to digitally transform postal services, establish a modern addressing system, manage address changes caused by climate-related migration, ensure the security of personal data, and enhance institutional capacity, reports BSS.

"The law is being given a completely new form and it will be titled the 'Postal Services Ordinance, 2025' and replace the previous Post Office Act, 1898," he said.

"We believe several of the proposed amendments will bring groundbreaking changes," Faiz Ahmad said.
