Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has welcomed its first-ever airplane amenity bag and kit manufacturing company, KMK Industrial Limited, which is set to invest US$ 18.60 million and create employment opportunities for 1,231 Bangladeshi nationals.

The agreement was signed on Sunday between Md. Ashraful Kabir, member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Wu Yuxiang, chairman of KMK Industrial Limited, in the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, according to a press release.

The company will initially produce airplane amenity bags and gradually expand into in-house manufacturing of socks, garments and accessories, cosmetics, and selected electronic items, including headphones and USB cables.

The BEPZA executive chairman expressed his gratitude to KMK Industrial Limited for choosing the BEPZA Economic Zone as their investment destination.

He also reaffirmed BEPZA’s commitment to providing full support to ensure smooth business operations. “This project represents a milestone in our continuous effort to diversify export-oriented industries. We strongly encourage investors to develop in-house production capacity and source materials from local enterprises, thereby strengthening both industry and the national economy,” he said.

This new venture marks a significant step in diversifying Bangladesh’s industrial base and expanding the range of products manufactured within BEPZA zones, reports UNB.
