The two discussed enhancing bilateral relations and explored opportunities to increase trade and investment. Bashir Uddin highlighted that the current trade volume between the two countries remains below its potential, despite both nations having significant export capabilities.
He emphasized that strengthening trade ties would be mutually beneficial and urged Iran to invest more in Bangladesh’s agriculture sector.
Ambassador Chavoshi expressed that Iran views Bangladesh as a close ally, united by cultural, religious, and linguistic similarities. However, he acknowledged that commercial relations have not yet been fully developed. The Ambassador reiterated Iran’s interest in deepening trade relations with Bangladesh.
The meeting was also attended by Commerce Ministry Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau Md. Anwar Hossain, and Iranian Embassy Economic Affairs Secretary Mahmud Khoshravi.
