The government has convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to brief political leaders about recent military strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes were carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
The meeting is scheduled for 11:00 am at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi.
Ahead of the meeting, a separate emergency discussion among senior leaders was also called by the Congress leadership on Wednesday afternoon to assess the current security situation.
The military operation, codenamed "Operation Sindoor," was launched to target and destroy nine identified terror sites. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed the locations were carefully chosen to avoid civilian casualties or damage to infrastructure.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described the Pahalgam attack as "extremely barbaric," with victims executed at close range in front of their families. He stated that intelligence reports had warned of more impending attacks, prompting the need for a pre-emptive and proportionate military response to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi shared visuals showing the destruction of the targeted sites, reaffirming the operation’s objective of delivering justice to the victims and ensuring national security.
The government has reiterated that the operation was conducted with restraint and precision, aimed solely at preventing further cross-border terrorism.
