Jeddah, 14-03-2025 - OIC secretary general Hissein Brahim Taha issued the following statement on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia:

May peace, blessings, and mercy of Allah be upon you,

The proclamation of the International Day against Islamophobia by the United Nations General Assembly marked a turning point in the fight against religious discrimination.

This is a crucial moment in our quest for mutual understanding and respect. Indeed, anti-Muslim incidents continue to multiply, with online hate speech, attacks on places of worship and persistent discrimination.

The rise of Islamophobia in some political and social discourses threatens our principles of human dignity and religious freedom. This challenge demands collective action and an innovative response.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in collaboration with its partners, continues to promote effective strategies against Islamophobia, strengthen legal protections for minorities and combat religious hatred in all its forms. Interfaith and intercultural dialogue is essential to building lasting bridges of understanding.

On this day, let us renew our commitment to creating a world where everyone can practice their faith in complete freedom, where diversity becomes cultural richness, and where mutual respect triumphs over prejudice. – OIC News
