Fresh tensions between the United States and Iran have raised uncertainty over the future of ongoing diplomatic efforts, as both sides exchanged warnings while signaling continued interest in negotiations.

US President Donald Trump said Washington could consider further military action if talks fail to produce results, while also indicating that diplomatic efforts remain active and progress is still possible. Recent statements from US officials suggested that discussions with Tehran are continuing despite the strained atmosphere.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said he had previously postponed a planned military response to allow more time for diplomacy and expressed hope that a negotiated settlement could be reached. He added that the situation remained under close review.

Iranian officials, however, warned against renewed military action and maintained that Tehran would respond firmly to any escalation. Iranian authorities have also emphasized that the country would protect its strategic interests and security concerns during negotiations.

The continuing standoff has fueled concerns over regional stability, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments. Market analysts say uncertainty surrounding the region has contributed to volatility in international energy markets.

US Vice President JD Vance also expressed cautious optimism, saying diplomatic channels remain open despite lingering disagreements between the two sides.

Observers say the coming days could be crucial in determining whether diplomacy gains momentum or whether tensions move toward another phase of confrontation.
