The University of South Florida will award posthumous doctoral degrees to two Bangladeshi PhD students, Jamil Ahmed Limon and Nahida Sultana Bristy, who were killed in the United States.
The degrees will be conferred at the university’s spring commencement ceremony on May 9.
In a formal letter sent on May 5, the university informed the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami and requested that a representative attend the ceremony to receive the honours on behalf of the victims’ families.
A consulate official is expected to be present at the event and accept the recognition, paying tribute to the academic contributions and memory of the two students.
