6 RMG units in Ashulia declare holiday amid worker unrest

Savar, Oct 19 – The authorities concerned of six garment factories in the Ashulia area of Savar, have declared a general holiday amid unrest of workers. 

Earlier on Thursday, the authorities of Fashion Forum Garments of IDS Group in Jamgarah declared holiday for the day as the workers staged demonstration demanding arrears payment. 

On Sunday morning, the workers of Fashion Forum again gathered in front of their factory and blocked the road. 

A tense situation has been prevailing over the issue in the area. 

Apprehending further unrest, the authorities of High Fashion, FNF, Trade Fashion and Priti Group declared a holiday. 

Besides, the authorities of Shahriar Garments Factory declared their factory closed for today as the workers staged demonstration following retrenchment of workers. 

Abdul Hannan, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, said additional police have been deployed in front of the factories to avert further trouble. - UNB
