Kazuiki Kataoka elected Japan BD Chamber President for 2026-2028

Japan Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry leaders elected for 2026-2028.

Dhaka, Sept 24 – The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has elected a 16-member Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term, with Kazuiki Kataoka as its President.

The election was held in two phases on September 13 and September 23, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

Kazuiki Kataoka, Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office and former Joint Secretary-General of JBCCI, was elected President.

Rabiul Alam, Managing Director of MKK Logistics, has been elected Secretary General, while Kenji Kimura, Chief Representative of MUFG Bank Dhaka Office, was elected Treasurer. Both served as directors on the outgoing board.

Abu Zaman Md. Tariqul Islam, Managing Director of Yusen Logistics (Bangladesh) Ltd., and Syed Samiul Huq, Director of Japan Solar-tech Bangladesh Ltd., were elected Vice President 1 and Vice President 2, respectively.

Oliver Kutz, Managing Director of JT International Bangladesh Ltd., was elected Joint Secretary General, and Saumitra Kumar Mutsuddi, Head of Corporate Affairs at BSRM Ltd., was elected Joint Treasurer.

The remaining nine elected directors are Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), Hiroaki Oura, Kabir Ahmed, Atsushi Hirakuri, AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU, Kenichiro Kawamoto, Farzanah Chowdhury, Hironori Yamanaka, and Mudassir Murtaza Moin.

The election was conducted by a three-member Election Board headed by AKM Kamrul Islam FCA, First Banking Ombudsman of Bangladesh, alongside AZM Azizur Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Election Board and former BEPZA official.

A three-member Election Appeal Board was headed by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, former Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), alongside former JBCCI President Abdul Haque.

Founded in 2004, JBCCI promotes bilateral trade, Japanese investment in Bangladesh, and Bangladeshi export growth to Japan, according to a press release. - UNB
