Joypurhat, Oct 24 -- The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has handed over financial assistance cheques totaling Tk 29 lakh to eight family members who were killed and injured in road accidents in Joypurhat district.

BRTA Chairman and Additional Secretary Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed distributed the cheques to the families at the District Collectorate Conference Room on Thursday evening.

The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury and attended by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Mohaimena Sharmin, BRTA District Motor Vehicle Inspector Ramkrishna Poddar, Joypurhat District Motor Workers Union President Himmat Ali, and District Safe Roads Organization President Nur-e-Alam, among others. - UNB
