The project will be implemented by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), in collaboration with the Bangladesh government and other partners. It is fully funded by the EU and will run until August 2026.
The focus of the project is to improve both the physical and psychological well-being of survivors, strengthen their economic resilience, and promote social cohesion. It will provide medical services, rehabilitation, assistive devices for those with physical challenges, and mental health support, including counselling and a helpline. Additionally, the project aims to assist income-generating activities and facilitate dialogue among various stakeholders to enhance community resilience.
The intervention will be carried out in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur, and Rajshahi divisions, targeting those directly affected by the violence, including students, workers, journalists, and their families. A key goal is to ensure the continuity of support through coordination with government agencies, integrating the services into existing social systems, and linking survivors to sustainable livelihoods.
The EU Embassy in Dhaka emphasized that the project aims to address the ongoing needs of those affected and support their long-term recovery.
