In a significant move to support cross-border healthcare, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has launched a dedicated “Green Channel” to expedite and simplify the medical visa application process for Bangladeshi citizens seeking treatment in China.

Announced on Sunday through an official notice, the initiative introduces a fast-track system that reduces bureaucratic hurdles and prioritises urgent medical cases. Under the new system, local travel agencies holding valid Bangladeshi business licences are now authorised to issue guarantee letters for patients, covering essential documents such as proof of bank solvency and familial ties.

Crucially, these supporting documents no longer require authentication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh—streamlining the process significantly.

To facilitate the new system, dedicated Green Channel counters have been established at both the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Dhaka. Applicants can access assistance through newly designated hotlines: 02222260103 and 01708464809 for the embassy, and 022212803261 for the visa centre. A dedicated WhatsApp support line is also available at 01885041364.

Online applications will receive priority and are processed swiftly, with a dedicated counter ensuring medical visa applicants are not required to wait in long queues. In emergency cases, same-day visa issuance is available under the Green Channel system.

Applicants with pre-scheduled medical appointments in China will be granted priority interviews without queuing. Additionally, for those unable to appear in person due to health reasons, remote interviews may be arranged upon submission of a valid guarantee letter from an authorised travel agency.

This initiative underscores China's growing commitment to fostering closer healthcare cooperation with Bangladesh and improving access for those in urgent need of treatment abroad.
