Dhaka, 7 April - Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club sprung a surprise by cruising to an eight-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers today in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) game at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.

Nasir Hossain, who featured for Rupganj, made a comeback to the competitive
cricket with this match after his two-year ban, enforced by International
Cricket Council (ICC) was lifted.

He made just nine runs and took one wicket for 31 runs in 10 overs in the
game.

Gazi Group had the chance to go up second spot in the points table but the
defeat kept them in the third place.

Put into bat first, Gazi Group were bowled out for just 159 in 42.1 overs, a
total that Rupganj Tigers effortlessly overhauled by reaching 163-2 in 33.3
overs for their only second victory in the league.

Openers Amit Mojumder and Abdul Majid added 138 runs for the opening stand to
make the chase a cake-walk. Amit top-scored for the side with 76 off 98, an
innings studded with 10 fours. Before being retired hurt, Majid made 53.

Earlier, no batters of Gazi Group could stand tall in the face of disciplined
bowling of the Rupganj bowlers. Mohiuddin Tarek scalped 3-28 to cause the
havoc and was ably supported by Husna Habibi Mehedi and Foysal Ahmed who
picked up two wickets apiece. BSS
