Brazil national football team booked their place in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup with an impressive 3-0 victory over Scotland national football team in their final Group C match on Wednesday.

Vinícius Júnior starred for Brazil with a brilliant brace, while Neymar made his long-awaited return to international football after nearly three years.

Playing in front of a packed crowd in Miami, Brazil dominated from the opening whistle and finished top of Group C with seven points. Morocco national football team secured second place after defeating Haiti national football team 4-2.

Vinicius continued his outstanding tournament form by scoring in his third straight match. The 25-year-old now has four goals in the tournament, placing him among the top scorers.

Brazil took the lead just seven minutes into the game after a defensive mistake by Scotland allowed Rayan to regain possession and find Vinicius unmarked inside the box. The forward calmly rounded goalkeeper Angus Gunn before finishing into an empty net.

Brazil thought they had doubled their lead before the hydration break when Vinicius found the net again, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review for a foul in the buildup.

The second goal finally arrived just before halftime. Brazil won the ball high up the field once more, and Bruno Guimarães delivered a precise cross to the far post, where Vinicius headed home to make it 2-0.

Brazil continued to control the game after the break and sealed the victory with a third goal through Matheus Cunha. Guimarães provided his second assist of the night after a strong run into the penalty area before setting up Cunha, who finished confidently.

The loudest cheers of the night came when Neymar entered the match in the second half, marking his first appearance for Brazil since October 2023.

Scotland struggled to create meaningful chances throughout the match, while Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker remained solid to preserve a clean sheet.

With the commanding win, Brazil advanced to the knockout rounds in style and strengthened their status as one of the tournament’s top contenders.
