Bangabandhu, Bangamata Gold Cup Football Tournament kicks off
Jamalpur, 23 May - Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament under 17 kicked off in the district today.
Deputy Commissioner of Jamalpur Mursheda Zaman inaugurated the tournament at Freedom Fighter Advocate Abdul Hakim Stadium in the town as the chief guest.
On the opening day, Sharishabari Upazila girls team beat Jamalpur Sadar Upazila team in tie-breaker by a 4-1 margin.
In the second encounter in the boys group, Sharishabari Upazila team beat Jamalpur Sadar Upazila team by a 2-1 margin.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Md Moklesur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police, Zahidul Islam Khan and Vice-president, District Awami League, Syed Atiqur Rahman Sana spoke, among others, in the inaugural session.
A total of eight teams of the district are contesting in the tournament.
