The Bangladesh Bank will hold an auction of Tk25 billion worth of 10-year Bangladesh Government Treasury Bonds on Tuesday as part of the government's efforts to raise long-term funds for budget financing.

The central bank announced the auction through a press release issued by its Department of Communications and Publications on Sunday.

According to the notice, the auction will involve the reissue of a 10-year treasury bond with a remaining maturity period of 9.33 years. The bond was originally issued on November 19, 2025, and will mature on November 19, 2035.

The bond carries an annual coupon rate of 10.39 percent and has the ISIN number BD 0935191108.

The Bangladesh Bank said the reissue will be conducted through a price-based auction. Banks appointed as Primary Dealers (PDs) for government securities will be eligible to participate directly, while other banks and financial institutions can submit bids on behalf of investors through designated primary dealers.

Participants will have to submit bids electronically through the Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) system between 10:00am and 12:00pm on July 21, mentioning both the proposed purchase price per Tk100 face value and the desired quantity.

The central bank said detailed auction guidelines have already been shared with primary dealer banks and other concerned financial institutions.

The government regularly auctions treasury bills and bonds to finance budget deficits and mobilise long-term domestic resources. Reissuing existing bonds also helps increase market liquidity and strengthen trading activity in the secondary market.
