HSC Exams Resume Under Chattogram Board Today

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board resumed on Monday (27 July) after being suspended for nearly three weeks due to flooding and adverse weather.

Nearly 100,000 candidates returned to examination centres as the postponed examinations restarted.

According to the revised schedule issued by the Chattogram Education Board, examinations beginning at 10:00am include Civics and Good Governance (First Paper), Biology (Theory – First Paper) and Business Organisation and Management (First Paper). The Food and Nutrition (First Paper) examination is scheduled for the afternoon session.

At the same time, examinations are being held as scheduled under the country's other nine general education boards, as well as the Madrasah Education Board and the Technical Education Board.

Under the Madrasah Education Board, Alim candidates are sitting examinations in History of Islam, Physics (Second Paper – Theory) and Tajwid (Second Paper, Mujabbid Mahir section). Meanwhile, HSC (BMT) candidates under the Technical Education Board are taking the Human Resource Management-I examination.

The Chattogram Education Board suspended all remaining HSC and equivalent examinations on 16 July, citing the post-flood situation, damaged transport networks and concerns over the physical and mental wellbeing of students in the affected areas.

The decision also covered the remaining examinations for Alim, HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational) and Diploma in Commerce programmes.

Following an improvement in the overall situation and approval from the Ministry of Education, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon announced on 23 July that the postponed examinations would resume from 27 July.

The board said examinations are now being held according to the regular routine currently in effect. However, a separate schedule for the examinations that were originally due during the suspension period will be announced later.

The Chattogram Education Board had suspended HSC and equivalent examinations from 8 July, while examinations under all other education boards continued according to the previously announced timetable.
