The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has planned to deploy over 10,000 cleaners and use modern equipments to remove sacrificial animal waste within 12 hours on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on June 7.

DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia came up with the comprehensive preparations at a press conference at the National Eidgah Maidan today.

A total of 10,267 cleaners have been appointed, alongside 207 dump trucks, 200 mini trucks, 44 compactors, 39 container carriers, 16 pay-loaders, 5 tire dozers, 9 water trucks, 2 bulldozers, 4 excavators, 3 vehicle-mounted air compressors, 2 forklifts, 3 skid loaders and relevant equipments.

We are fully prepared to remove approximately 30,000 metric tons of sacrificial animal waste from all 75 wards between 3:00pm and 3:00am on Eid day, said Shahjahan.

To aid in the effort, DSCC has distributed 140,000 biodegradable bags, 40 tons of bleaching powder and 222 gallons of Savlon across the wards.

City residents are encouraged to use the designated waste disposal materials and follow guidelines to maintain cleanliness, reports BSS.
