A total of 5,500 volunteers will join forces with the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to raise public awareness about preventing the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes ahead of the upcoming rainy season, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz announced on Monday.

Speaking at a roundtable on dengue prevention, Azaz emphasized the crucial role of public awareness in controlling the mosquito population. "There is no alternative to public consciousness in mosquito control. We will prioritize awareness campaigns to tackle this issue," he said.

Additionally, the DNCC plans to install modern mosquito-killing traps in public spaces to combat the spread of mosquitoes. The effectiveness of insecticides used in these traps has been tested in neutral labs by the DNCC, Azaz added.
