Summit LNG Terminal in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, has resumed supplying gas to the national grid after nearly four days of maintenance work.

Gas supply through the terminal restarted on Saturday (November 7), helping restore the supply situation to its previous level.

In a press release, Petrobangla said the process of regasifying imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Summit’s terminal resumed at 1pm on Saturday.

With the maintenance work completed, both floating LNG terminals in Maheshkhali are now supplying gas to the national grid as usual, the state-owned company said.

Petrobangla also thanked customers for their cooperation during the maintenance period.

Earlier, the company had announced that regasification operations at Summit LNG Terminal would remain suspended from 8am on November 4 until 4pm on November 7 for urgent maintenance.

As a result, daily gas supply to the national grid was expected to fall from 2,570 million cubic feet to 2,250 million cubic feet.

However, Petrobangla dismissed as rumours social media claims that gas supply would be completely suspended across the country for four days. It clarified that the maintenance work would not stop gas supply entirely, although gas pressure could temporarily decline in some areas.

Bangladesh has two floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) in Maheshkhali to process imported LNG and supply it to the national grid. Summit Group operates one terminal, while US-based Excelerate Energy operates the other.

Summit's terminal has a daily gas supply capacity of 500 million cubic feet, while the Excelerate Energy terminal has a capacity of 600 million cubic feet.

Petrobangla said similar maintenance work was previously carried out at Summit's LNG terminal in December 2025.
