The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has kept the price of a 12kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder unchanged at Tk1,940 for May 2026, even as global benchmark rates saw adjustments.

In a statement issued on 3 May, the regulator said the retail price of private LPG has been fixed at Tk161.71 per kg, including VAT. As a result, the cost of a 12kg cylinder remains the same as in April.

The pricing has been set in line with the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) for May, which stands at $750 per tonne for propane and $800 per tonne for butane. The weighted average CP is $782.50 per tonne, calculated using an exchange rate of Tk123 per US dollar.

According to the new rates, liquid LPG has been priced at Tk157.96 per kg, while gaseous LPG will cost Tk351 per cubic metre. Autogas prices have been set at Tk89.52 per litre for the month.

Prices for other cylinder sizes, ranging from 5.5kg to 45kg, have been adjusted proportionately based on the per-kg rate.

For state-run LPG, the price remains unchanged at Tk776.93 for a 12.5kg cylinder at the dealer level, as per an earlier order issued on 23 February 2026.

The revised prices took effect from 6pm on Sunday.
