Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presides over a high-level meeting on law and order situation at the State Guest House Jamuna today.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed law enforcement agencies to provide full support to Dhaka University authorities to ensure a peaceful and festive environment during the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections on Tuesday.

The directive came during a high-level meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna, held to review the country’s overall law and order situation.

“All-out cooperation should be extended to the university authorities so that the DUCSU elections can proceed peacefully,” said the Chief Adviser, as quoted by his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.

Professor Yunus warned that defeated and desperate forces are seeking to disrupt peace and stability as elections approach and trials of the July massacre suspects are expedited. He stressed that maintaining law and order is also a matter of national security.

The meeting decided that no leniency would be shown to those attempting to create unrest. Emphasis was placed on strict monitoring of sudden processions, illegal gatherings, and other potential disturbances, with immediate legal action to be taken against offenders.

Authorities were also instructed to coordinate closely with local administrations and law enforcement, ensuring round-the-clock vigilance. In addition, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has been asked to engage with faith-based organizations to preserve communal harmony, especially ahead of Durga Puja.

Deputy Press Secretaries Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Apurba Jahangir were present at the briefing.
