The NBR Reform Unity Council announced on Sunday that it will continue its six-hour pen-down strike on Monday to press for sustainable and inclusive reforms within the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

The Council issued a statement confirming the protest programme.

They noted that Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed is scheduled to meet with NBR officials on Tuesday to discuss reform issues.

However, as no official proposal or communication has been received regarding this meeting, the Council decided to carry out the pen-down strike from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday.

The Council’s primary demands include the immediate withdrawal of the proposed Revenue Ordinance, public disclosure of the NBR Reform Advisory Committee’s report, and the initiation of comprehensive revenue system reforms through meaningful consultations involving NBR officials, business associations, civil society members, and political leaders.
