Minor tremor jolts Sylhet

A minor earthquake measuring 4.3 magnitude in the Richter Scale was felt at 11km northeast of Chhatak in Sunamganj district here around 9:56 this morning.

"The epicenter of the tremor was located at Meghalaya in India," meteorologist Farzana Sultana told BSS.

She said the earthquake struck at the depth of 64.8 kilometers according to the US Geological Survey, which lasted for a few seconds.

No damage was reported by now due to the tremor, she added.

According to the seismologists, an earthquake ranging from 4 to 4.9 scale is considered as light, reports BSS.
