Two drug dealers held with 11,800 yaba in city

Police under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today carried out a special drive in the capital's Uttara area and arrested two alleged drug dealers along with 11,800 yaba tablets.


The arrested were identified as Md Liton, 42, and Md Kamrul Hasan, 30, according to DMP's media and public relations division press release issued here.

It said the operation was conducted at around 12:05 pm today at Abdullahpur area and recovered 11,800 pieces of yaba tablets along with Taka 10,000 cash from their possession.

A case was pending earlier against Kamrul with Uttara West Police Station while two cases against Liton, police said.

Uttara police said the two were active members of a professional drug trafficking syndicate. During preliminary interrogation, they reportedly admitted that they had kept yaba tablets for selling, reports BSS.

Legal proceedings against the accused are underway, the DMP release added.
