Deputy Director of Rangpur District DNC Md Abu Jafar confirmed the matter to BSS this afternoon.
The DNC officials had secret information that a large quantity of contraband Tapentadol tablets was brought to Rangpur through a courier service on Thursday.
Based on the information, a smart team of the DNC personnel started surveillance on the Steadfast Courier Service at the Ideal intersection in the RK Road area of the city.
"At one stage, a raid was conducted at 8:30 pm and 16,000 pieces of Tapentadol tablets were recovered from a parcel of the courier service," he said.
At that time, Md Abdur Razzaque, Rangpur Regional Sales Manager of Sharif Pharmaceuticals, and Md Sagar, a representative of Popular Pharmaceuticals, were arrested from the scene.
After filing a case in this incident, the DNC personnel handed over the seized Tapentadol tablets and the arrested persons to Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station, reports BSS.
"Our operation against drugs will continue," said Md Abu Jafar.
