2 madrasha students die mysteriously in C'nawabganj

Two students of a women’s madrsha in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district died under mysterious circumstances on Friday night.


The deceased were identified as Tania Nishi, 12, daughter of Tariqul Islam of Lebudanga area and Jamila, 9, daughter of Soibur Rahman of Begpur area in Radhanagar union.

Police said after dinner on Friday, the students of Shefli Begum Nurani Hafizia Women’s Madrasha went to bed as usual.

Around 3 am, the two girls complained of chest pain and fell sick.

Madrasha teacher Shahida Khatun with the help of others rushed them to Gomostapur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, said Ashraf Ali, director of the madrasha.

Dr Abdul Alim, on-duty physician at Gomostapur Upazila Health Complex, said one of the girls was brought dead while the other died shortly after admission.

Gomostapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Wadud Alam said the bodies were sent to the morgue of Chapainawabganj 250-bed District Hospital for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death, reports UNB.
