Dengue: 6 die, 983 new cases reported in 24 hours

Six more people died from dengue while 983 new cases were detected across the country in the last 24 hours, health officials said today.


During the period, 141 new patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 111 in Chattogram, 171 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 133 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 227 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 62 in Khulna, 41 in Mymensingh, 78 in Rajshahi, 12 in Rangpur and seven in Sylhet divisions, according to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Since the beginning of this year, dengue has claimed 269 lives and onslaught 66,423 people across the country, the DGHS said.

Last year, the dengue claimed 575 lives and onslaught 1,01,214 people nationwide, reports BSS.
