The government has opened ‘dengue corners’ at all public hospitals to tackle the soaring caseload of the mosquito-borne disease.
Besides, dengue dedicated wards have been launched in medical colleges and specialized hospitals, said Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS issued a statement in this regard on Thursday (July 13).
According to the statement, on July 9, an emergency meeting was held in the conference room of the Directorate of Health of Health Services led by health division’s secretary Dr Anwar Hossain Hawladar. Another meeting took place on July 10. Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek presided over the meeting.
The decisions in those meetings are-
1. Patients from now on can get their dengue tests at Tk 50 instead of Tk 100 in all public hospitals across the country.
2. Necessary measures have been taken and dengue corners have been opened in all government hospitals to treat dengue patients. Besides, dengue dedicated wards have been launched in medical colleges and specialized hospitals.
3. Miking, poster, leaflet distribution, scroll on TV, radio message, social media campaign, have been increased to make the public aware regarding dengue prevention.
4. The 800-bed DNCC Hospital in Mohakhali has been declared a Dengue Dedicated Hospital to serve the dengue patients in Dhaka city.
5. Dengue training for doctors has been arranged in all hospitals. Updated dengue treatment guidelines are provided.
6. A control room has been opened by the health department to monitor the overall situation.
7. DGHS also started a hotline service, 16263, for emergency care.
