Six More Die of Dengue, 2,089 Hospitalised in 24 Hours

Six people have died from dengue across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 2,089 patients have been admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The figures were reported in a dengue update issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS on Sunday.

Among the newly hospitalised patients, 203 were admitted in Barishal Division, 334 in Chattogram Division, 514 outside the city corporations in Dhaka Division, 106 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 196 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Another 330 patients were admitted in Khulna Division, 99 in Mymensingh, 224 in Rajshahi, 83 in Rangpur and 10 in Sylhet.

As of October 4, a total of 86,458 dengue patients have been hospitalised across the country this year. Of them, 80,347 have recovered and been discharged.

In the past 24 hours alone, 1,865 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals.

With the latest six deaths, the country's dengue death toll has reached 262 so far this year.

In comparison, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths throughout 2025.
