Dengue: 3 more die; 534 hospitalized in 24 hours

Health officials today said they recorded 534 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 534) 68 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 71 in Chattogram division, 131 in Dhaka division, 56 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 65 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 45 in Khulna division, 37 in Mymensingh division, 30 in Rajshahi division, 26 in Rangpur division and five in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 50 deaths while the disease inflicted 14,690.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024, reports BSS.
