3 more die of measles-like symptoms in 24hrs

Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


During the period, 980 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, raising the total number of suspected cases recorded between March 15 and June 9 to 81,084.

During the 24-hour period, 54 new measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 9,833 since March 15.

According to the DGHS, a total of 66,170 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15, while 62,292 patients have recovered and been discharged during the period.

No death from confirmed measles was reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths from confirmed measles remained at 92 as of June 9.

However, three deaths linked to suspected measles were reported during the period, taking the cumulative number of deaths among suspected cases to 539 since March 15.

The highest number of suspected measles infections so far has been recorded in the Dhaka Division, where 37,798 people have shown symptoms of the disease. Of them, 6,822 cases have been confirmed as measles, reports BSS.
