5 more children die with measles symptoms

Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours bringing the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 477 since March 15.


During the same period, the total number of infected patients reached 877, said a regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours was 826, while the total number of suspected measles cases since March 15 stood at 67,905.

In the past 24 hours, 51 cases of measles were confirmed. Since March 15, the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 8,885.

Since March 15, a total of 54,182 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 50,926 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

No deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the past 24 hours, while 88 people have died from confirmed measles since March 15.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases — 32,072 — has been reported in the Dhaka division. Among them, 6,165 cases have been confirmed as measles, reports BSS.
