Lightning kills one in Gaibandha

A youth was killed by lightning strike at Nurpur village under Kamarpara union of Sadullapur upazila in the district on Friday evening.


The deceased was identified as Sohag Miah, 20, son of Hamidul Miah of the same village.

Quoting family members, Union Parishad Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman said Sohag had gone to a nearby beel (water body) to set a fishing net, reports BSS. 

On his way back home, a lightning strike hit him, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to Sadullapur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
