The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued 20 Bangladeshi fishermen, who were missing after a landfall of cyclone Sitrang, from sea in a coordinated search and rescue operation.

"In a swift coordinated Search & Rescue Operation @IndiaCoastGuard rescued 20 Bangladeshi fishermen post-landfall of cyclone #Sitrang.

Fishermen will be handed over to #Bangladesh in accordance with the existing MoU," ICG tweeted today.

The fishermen are planned to be handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard in accordance with the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka and Delhi, said the ICG.

The cyclonic storm hit Bangladesh coastline on Monday and crossed Barishal-Chattogram coast leaving a trail of devastation in coastal districts, reports BSS.
