The credentials were formally handed over at the Grand Ducal Palace with full diplomatic protocol, according to a press release. The ceremony was attended by the Marshal of the Court, senior members of the Luxembourg Royal Household, the Ambassador’s spouse, and officials from the Embassy of Bangladesh in Brussels.
Following the ceremony, the Grand Duke held a formal meeting with Ambassador Alam. The Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President and the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh.
Discussions covered a broad spectrum of bilateral priorities, including trade expansion, financial-sector cooperation, boosting Luxembourg’s investment in Bangladesh, collaboration on environment and climate change, finalising a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, and exploring the possibility of direct air connectivity.
Grand Duke Guillaume reaffirmed Luxembourg’s strong interest in further strengthening ties with Bangladesh. He also fondly recalled previous interactions between his family and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, expressing his commitment to continuing the work championed by his mother, Maria Teresa, in microcredit and poverty alleviation.
Ambassador Alam concluded the meeting by extending an invitation—on behalf of the President and the Chief Adviser—for the Grand Duke to visit Bangladesh in the near future.
