Canada Backs Bangladesh in Promoting Humane Migration

Canada has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humane and evidence-based migration governance in Bangladesh, joining the launch of the Bangladesh Migration Snapshot 2024 and the Manual on Migration.

The two initiatives, led by the Government of Bangladesh in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and development partners, aim to strengthen national systems for safe, orderly, and regular migration.

Through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada supported the preparation of the Manual on Migration, designed to help policymakers, practitioners, and institutions implement effective migration management frameworks.

Canada also pledged continued cooperation with IOM and relevant government agencies to improve border management, enhance anti-trafficking efforts, and promote regional collaboration through the Bali Process.

Reaffirming its long-standing partnership with Bangladesh, Canada emphasised its commitment to safeguarding migrant rights and promoting inclusive, sustainable approaches to mobility and protection.
